A suo tempo, si otteneva un \u201ceffetto parboiling\u201d \u2013 in in forma limitata \u2013 trattando dapprima il riso al vapore e lasciandolo poi essicare al sole. The \u201cParboling method\u201d is used all over the world, mostly combined with modern technologies. After the process, the raw rice is usually sent to the rice mills for overripe and further refining. Back in the days, the same effect, in a limited way, was obtained first processing the steamed rice and then leaving it to dry under the sun.
